Welcome to The Fitting Room

I created The Fitting Room to share what I've learned from studying how lingerie is designed, constructed, sized, fitted, and actually performs on women.

Since 1998, I've built that knowledge by studying and evaluating products across an unusually broad range of lingerie brands, interviewing designers around the world about their design philosophies, and speaking directly with lingerie company leaders. Everything you'll find in The Fitting Room was written by me. I've also used what I've learned to develop HerRoom's unique fitting, measuring, and shopping tools because I believe women deserve more information than a size on a tag or a manufacturer's description.

While bra fit is a big part of The Fitting Room, you'll find help with much more than bras - including panties, shapewear, bra-sized swimwear, hosiery, sleepwear, slips, and other lingerie.

There is no one perfect bra. Your best bra size is a starting point, but size is only part of the story. Your breast characteristics, the way a bra is constructed, how it fits and feels on your body, what you want it to do, and what you plan to wear it under can all influence which bras work best for you.

My goal is to give you straightforward, useful information so you understand what to look for, know the questions to ask, and feel confident deciding what works best for you.

You don't need to become a lingerie expert. You just need the right information to make better choices for yourself.

The Find Your Best Bra Size Quiz helps determine your best starting bra size based in part on how your current bras fit. Bra sizing is subjective, so the goal isn't to declare one "perfect" size. It's to give you a better-informed starting point.

If your cup size is larger than a D, your results will include your Universal Cup Size (UCS)™. UCS helps you understand comparable cup volumes across brands and can reveal many more bra choices available in your size.

Why HerRoom Is Different

Independent Product Information

HerRoom doesn't simply copy and paste the product descriptions supplied by manufacturers. Every product offered on HerRoom goes through HerRoom's own evaluation process.

Before a product goes live, it is put on a live model, measured, photographed, and analyzed. HerRoom then creates product-specific information based on what was actually observed. HerRoom Fit Lab Findings (formerly Fitter's Comments) and other HerRoom-created product information reflect what HerRoom learned from evaluating the actual garment.

If a concern is identified during evaluation, HerRoom contacts the manufacturer before the product goes live. That evaluation continues after launch. Customer feedback, fit concerns, complaints, and return patterns are monitored, and when those signals indicate a possible product problem, HerRoom goes back to the manufacturer.

The result is a carefully curated assortment. HerRoom works hard to offer products customers will be happy they purchased - not simply every product a vendor makes available.

HerRoom's knowledge comes from combining broad cross-brand experience with firsthand product evaluation.

Tomima Edmark has interviewed lingerie designers from around the world about their design philosophies, sizing, fit, construction, and the thinking behind their products. She also has long-standing relationships with lingerie company presidents and other industry leaders who speak with her frequently.

Those relationships provide a valuable two-way exchange. Industry leaders share their knowledge with HerRoom and seek Tomima's perspective on customer feedback, fit issues, product performance, trends, customer requests, gaps in their product offerings, and what HerRoom is seeing across other brands.

That cross-brand perspective matters. A manufacturer naturally knows its own products. HerRoom evaluates products across an unusually broad range of lingerie brands, giving it firsthand insight into how different companies approach sizing, fit, construction, design, and customer needs. HerRoom then adds its own observations from fitting, measuring, photographing, and analyzing the products it sells.
