Fitting Tips From Tomima

Tomima Edmark is the leading undergarment expert. Here are her suggestions for the best bra styles for you to choose in order to get the best feel and fit possible.

“Almost every type of bra (strapless, seamless, demi etc.) on the market today can be found in almost any size. Manufacturers do this because the demand exists. However, just because a bra style is available in your size doesn't mean it will work for you. You need to know your figure and its limitations.

By way of example, take strapless bras. After a size 40D, a strapless bra is simply not going to work as well as a strapless bra will on a woman with a smaller cup and band size. You are better off with a long line bra.

- These are not really for anyone with heavy or large breasts. Manufacturers make them in your size, but those skimpy straps might be uncomfortable.

demi cup

in large band sizes is simply not going to give the same support as a full cup bra.

Wide-set strap

bras will not work on women with sloping shoulders.

Bandeau bras

work best for the young and for smaller, well-supported breasts. Large busted women will look droopy.

Triangle bras

simply have less breast coverage. Large breasted women will have breast spillage and almost no support.”
