Established in Rochester, New York in 1919, the Champion brand has a rich heritage as an originator and innovator of men's and women's athletic apparel. Brothers Abe and Bill Fainbloom first named their business, the Knickerbocker Knitting Company, and began producing sweaters. The brothers then began making sweatshirts and reversible t-shirts, popular during WWII. Champion jerseys and sweatshirts are now worn by hundreds of college and high school teams. Professional sports teams also call them a favorite. The US Olympic basketball team in 1992 named Champion its official supplier for practice and game uniforms. Champion has grown to offer women's activewear as well as accessories and a line for children.
Collections include the ActiveFit collection, featuring the Double Dry active fit technology so women can work and play hard while staying cool. The Double Dry collection features this technology in their soft, durable activewear. The Sprint collection features products constructed from an exceptionally lightweight athletic mesh fabric for superior ventilation. Bright colors, prints, and patterns are found throughout the selections.
Champion does its part to give back as well. They partner with many non-profit groups. In 1998 they joined with the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations (NABCO) to raise awareness of breast cancer. The company's commitment was twofold: first by placing NABCO's logo and a pink ribbon on all WNBA apparel, and secondly, donating a portion of licensed sales to NABCO.
Champion is what women search for when they want activewear that will last, look good and be comfortable from day into night.
