What Is Cleavage?

What is cleavage? It’s defined as the separation between a woman’s breasts. The key word here is separation. Unfortunately, many women are not aware of this because advertising and red carpet events tend to display breasts pressed up against each other. This look has acquired the more specific name of “barmaid” cleavage.

What Is Barmaid Cleavage?

Many women still desire this barmaid look, and most men love it. But barmaid cleavage is difficult to sustain all day because touching breasts rub together, get hot, perspire and can generate a rash. So, it’s best deployed when going out in the evening or for special occasions.

Why Barmaid Cleavage Can Be Difficult to Wear

There is no bra on the market designed to give you barmaid cleavage, but you can create the look several ways. However, please note that an adequate amount of breast tissue is needed – around a D cup size or larger. And, if your breasts are wide-set, the look of touching cleavage is probably not possible.

How to Create Barmaid Cleavage

Adhesive Bras

1. Adhesive bras allow you to pull your breasts together. And their clasp helps to keep them touching. But there will be no support or uplift. Women with implants find these bras to be their best option.

Wearing a Smaller Cup Size

2. You can try wearing a bra that is three cup sizes smaller and one band size too big. The bra style that works best is one with less cup coverage and a plunging or no center panel so the cups are close together. Once in the bra, you then pull your breast tissue up and inward for your desired look.

Bras With a Center Corded Panel

3. Bras with a center corded panel can be twisted in front to bring the cups closer together, and thus also your breasts.

Halter Styling and Layering Bras

4. Creating a halter neckline with your bra by clipping your back straps together up near your neck. 5. Wearing two bras – the first bra being unpadded, and then the second one having crescent shaped pads in the cups. The downside to this suggestion is having to wear two bras along with dealing with multiple straps. 6. And, you can try using several of these techniques together such as twisting the center and clipping your straps in the back.

How to Create True Cleavage

I personally prefer the look of true cleavage. It gives an elegant and more natural presentation. So, I always recommend cleavage that is supported with breast separation. True cleavage is also more obtainable for women of varying breast sizes. And, bra manufacturers have many bra styles to help women achieve true cleavage.

Push-up bras with crescent-shaped padding lift your breasts up and push them to the center. This padding is best for cup sizes B to D.

Push-Up Bras With Bottom Cup Padding

Push up bras with padding in the bottom of the cups give breasts a fuller and larger look.

Women with adequate breast tissue can achieve cleavage from bras with side support panels which bring breasts front and center, and/or wider set straps that lift up the outside of the cups thus helping your breasts to tumble towards each other.
