Ever wonder how the Wonderbra conquered the fashion scene? The first Wonderbra Push Up Plunge Bra was invented in 1963 by Louise Poirier, a French Canadian designer. Wouldn't you know that a Frenchwoman would invent this sexy bra! This first Wonderbra had 54 separate design parts that created fabulous cleavage, including 3-part construction, angled back and underwire cups, removable padding (cookies), a gate back design and non-stretch straps.

Wonderbra's Push-Up bra launched Wonderbra into the lingerie industry. An instant success, it quickly became not only the top-selling push-up bra, but basically became synonymous with push-up bras. In fact, the Council of Fashion Designers lauded Wonderbra "for creating a phenomenon never before experienced in the industry."

Although long known in Canada and the UK, Wonderbra debuted in the U.S. by positioning itself as a sexy, more natural-looking alternative to the highly structured bras of earlier generations.  The plunge style bra became a mega-hit in Great Britain, which made it a natural for an international roll-out. Introduced to the U.S. in 1994, it arrived with almost as much hoopla and hysteria as the Beatles a few decades earlier. Droves of women lined up outside department stores to get their sexy Wonderbra, making first-year sales approximately $120 million, and taking it from a mere lingerie item into the realm of "vitally necessary accessory." A combination of gutsy, edgy advertising and high-quality product quickly put Wonderbra at the top of the market.

Wonderbra bras are meticulously constructed to create both enhancement and lift. The graduated gel pads create deep cleavage and dramatic enhancement. The Wonderbra Gel Satin Push-Up Bra 7234, the brand's #1 selling style, uses lightweight gel pads of 48% silicone for unbelievable comfort to go along with that maximum cleavage. The Push-Up bras are especially ideal for smaller-busted women; they provide a plunging neckline as well as enhancement. Larger busted women will do best with the 'lift' styles, such as the Wonderbra Light Lift Front Close Bra 7638. HerRoom customers praise it saying "they don't call it a Wonder bra for nothing!'

Since its debut, Wonderbra has expanded its line to include strapless bras as well as panties and thongs. They continually expand the line with new designs and styles offering varying levels of shaping and lift. Wonderbra has become not just a lingerie item, but a vital fashion accessory and cultural icon. The brand has expanded beyond dramatic cleavage to create an entire lingerie wardrobe. Wonderbra styles also include strapless and convertible bras, in both neutral tones and bright colors, with exciting prints as well.
