Nursing bras are constructed especially for breastfeeding, with their easy-open cups for access and other special features. Nursing bras are built to provide the support that sensitive, heavier breasts need. Some have underwires, but even the popular soft-cup style offers support features like built-in side slings and wide underbands. Many maternity nursing bras have full coverage and high sides for support. With some added stretch to the fabric, these full-coverage nursing bras have room for nursing pads, too. Look for nursing bras made of breathable fabrics, like cotton or moisture-wicking materials that move moisture away from the skin. Dampness trapped against the skin is both uncomfortable and can be unhealthy. Since your breasts will be at their fullest early on and your band size will slowly decrease, nursing bras usually have at least 3 or more closures, so you can start the the loosest fitting and have fit flexibility as time goes on. You may also appreciate features like wide cushioned straps to ease neck and shoulder strain.
