Women's Swimwear

Herroom is pleased to offer swimwear to complement our lingerie departments. Like our bras and panties and other lingerie pieces, we have swimwear to flatter all shapes and sizes-from classic bandeaus and other one-piece suits to bikinis, boyshorts styles, tankinis, halter-tops and classic two-piece brief styles. With brands like Freya, MiracleSuit and Fantasie, among others, HerRoom continues its commitment to offering high-quality pieces for every figure.

And yes, many of us dread the swimsuit season, when we pretty much have nowhere to hide. But with so many flattering styles available and with most suits now being mix and match, there is a suit out there for you. Let's take a look at the various swimwear styles that may become must-haves in your hot weather wardrobe.

Bandeau Swimsuits

The word bandeau, strictly used, refers to the top of the suit, although many people use it to describe a style of one-piece bathing suit. A bandeau top may be part of any type of two-piece swimsuit too. Bandeau tops are usually strapless, often with inner elastic or drawstring. Bandeau swimsuits may be best suited to trimmer figures, since the snugness of the top might not flatter larger busts. They also don't offer a lot of support. For somewhat more support, bandeau tops with shoulder or v-straps might do the trick.

Bikinis

Just when you thought you knew all about bikinis, times have changed and bikinis come in more styles than ever before. Yes, they are still the most minimal of all swimwear, with bottoms hitting a low (or very low) hip. But there are so many variations in tops that they deserve their own section.

Other two-piece swimwear styles

Balcony style -J ust like balcony, or balconette, bras, the balcony swim top offers a great deal of support along with low-cut styling. With support along the outer part of the cups and the bottom, you get a natural yet shapely silhouette. Balcony tops can be very flattering on women with fuller busts.

Halter-style swimwear tops - Halter tops are flattering to almost every body type and are popular on both one-piece bathing suits and all styles of two-piece swimwear. Halter tops connect behind the neck instead of connecting with two straps over the shoulders. This construction offers a great deal of support, even for large breasts. Because the straps run along the outer edge of the breasts, they can prevent a droopy overhang and actually make breasts look shapely and firmer.

Triangle style tops - the name pretty much says it all. The cups of triangle swimwear tops are, you guessed it, triangle-shaped. These tops typically come with slender straps or halter-style ties and often have the least coverage. For the most part they are best suited to smaller busts, although brands like Freya offer triangle tops with added support and coverage.

Tankinis - Hugely popular for the last several years, tankinis offer more coverage than a bikini and less than a one-piece suit. The tankini top typically is long enough to cover most or all of the torso and is an ideal style for mixing and matching and for those who want a bit more spice than a typical one-piece swimsuit and more modesty than a bikini. Tankinis range in construction from skimpy triangle style to underwire, so they can be flattering on almost any body type.

Boyshorts - these are quickly becoming the most popular style of bottom out there, mainly because they are flattering to so many figures. Offering more bottom coverage than bikinis, the boyshort hipster design flatters the tummy too. Designed to fit snugly but comfortably, boyshorts offer several advantages; they're cute and sexy, while still being modest and practical.

Briefs - like the panties of the same name, briefs offer more coverage than bikini bottoms. Briefs can have high-cut legs or classic cut. They can hit just below the navel or be high-waisted. There is a briefs style that flatters every figure.

A word about plus-sized swimwear

Aside from great selection and customer service, one of the great things about shopping for swimwear at HerRoom is that, no matter the season, you will find variety in brands, sizes and styles. Trusted brands like Freya, Panache, Fantasie and Miraclesuit are known for a large product line of flattering and stylish swimwear for fuller figures.

Keep in mind some style guidelines and you won't go wrong: tankinis, skirt styles and some one-piece swimsuit designs can be very flattering. If you go 2-piece, boyshorts are preferred over bikini-style bottoms. Tops that offer more support-like tankinis, underwire, halter tops and balcony styles-are your best bet. Many suits are constructed with built-in underwire and control panels; Miraclesuit, in particular, is known for suits that slim and flatter larger figures.
