The bras we need during pregnancy and nursing are a bit different from the rest of our bra wardrobe. With the changes in a woman's body, many regular bras can't provide the kind of support that heavier breasts need. Maternity bras have two important features: they offer enhanced support and they are stretchy to accommodate breasts that are growing and changing. Maternity bras are offered in lots of styles to suit any wardrobe. Many have soft cups, which are often more comfortable during pregnancy. Some soft-cup maternity bras have support slings along the sides and inner bands to support and protect breasts. Other maternity styles are constructed with underwires. Look for comfort features like wide straps or leotard back, which help reduce back and shoulder pain. When body temperature runs amok, commonplace during pregnancy, bras made of moisture-wicking synthetics or of cotton will keep you dry and cool. Full coverage maternity bras support breasts and keep them contained. And multiple closure settings, usually three, mean you can loosen the band as breasts grow. Your body's changing and your bra wardrobe will change with it. Some comfortable, supportive maternity bras will help you look and feel your best.
