These panties are more like a thong with a very wide waistband--this is good because a lot of hiphugger panties cause the dreaded cameltoe. I ordered XL (I have 29" waist, 42" hips/butt) and the top is just the tiniest bit snug--it fits about halfway between my belly button and where low rise panties normally sit. They look great with the matching bra, and the material is soft, stretchy, and not scratchy; I like that the crotch is lined with color matched cotton (for breath ability).
