What is a Nursing Bra?

A nursing bra is designed for women who are breastfeeding. It generally has clasp openings at the top of the cup that can be opened with one hand to allow for ease of nursing. They are designed to accommodate a woman’s changing body after childbirth, with full coverage cups and breathable fabrics for the most comfortable wear. They are constructed to be supportive and comfortable at a time when breasts are sensitive and heavy.

Nursing Bras

A must-have for nursing mothers

You’ve become a new mom and you’re wondering how you can comfortably and conveniently nurse your newborn?  A nursing bra is the answer. A good nursing bra is a wardrobe essential for breastfeeding moms. Unlike other bras, nursing bras have cups that can be easily moved for convenient access. They are constructed to be supportive and comfortable at a time when breasts are sensitive and heavy. Most nursing bras have a clasp that needs only one hand to open and close, although there are also crossover styles that are easy to pull down for nursing.

With useful and imaginative designs including features like adhesive strips, low backs, and extra seams and strong wires to help keep you lifted and in place, you’ll feel confident and supported knowing nothing is showing in the back besides skin. Get a custom-feeling fit and comfort you can wear all day or night long!

Most styles have cups with full coverage, which is especially comfortable when breasts are heavy. There are also nursing bras with lower necklines, smooth tee-shirt-ready finishes and even strapless and sports bra styles. You can find maternity styles to suit almost any activity. Do look for front closure nursing bras with comfort and support features. Cotton or other breathable fabrics will allow moisture to dissipate, so it's not trapped against your skin. Wide non-stretchy straps, especially those with cushioning, provide great support and easy shoulder strain. Look for flexibility in fit, too. Nursing bras with at least three or four closures will be comfortable when breasts are at their heaviest and later on, as your band size decreases.
