I had tried a lot of different shaping garments and I was very frustrated with the outcome. My husband suggested I go "old school" and get a regular girdle. With nothing to lose (but bulges) he purchased the Rago brand. After I put it on I did not want to take it off. It is very comfortable and really shows off my curves. The design is pretty on the model, but it's not flattering for my short-waisted, hourglass shape. I have wide hips and a comparatively narrow, but very short waist (43-32-46), and I bought a 2X to fit my hips. However, the label says 2X/34, so I think it's designed for someone with a waist 2 inches bigger than mine. I could barely get it up over my hips and thighs. I ordered based on my waist measurements, so I went smaller than my hips measurement - all based on the size guide. Well it finally came and I tried it on and it did nothing for me. I could have gone 2 sizes down to get a real good squeeze! But to be honest I returned it because it isn't the style I thought it would be. I'm looking more for a waist cincher/girdle type and this just smoothes out what you already have.

This is a wonderful garment. It does exactly what its supposed to do. I holds me in and it doesn't roll down at all, so it's just perfact. I wear it all the time. (Well, not to my Pilates class, but you know what I mean.) I intend to order more when these wear out. HerRoom lists this as firm control and style 6109 is recommended for more control "extra firm", but I think maybe HerRoom has this backward. My main purpose for this purchase was my "pooch" you know the tummy that looks 3 months pregnant despite all the ab workouts you do? Well, this fixes that better than any Spanx I have tried! The only downside I suppose would be where it ends at the thighs- kind of squeezes them too tight, making them look a little less flattering. My wife bought the Rago high waist thong and she looks amazingly sexy in it. So much so, that I submitted a 5 star review for that product and ordered this product as a surprise gift for her. I was never a fan of shapewear or panty girdles before, but Oh My God, my wife looks amazing in these garments. It definitely smoothes her out and gives her curves where she had little before. She is rather thin but has a very small, slight belly to her. She also has a rather large latin bottom. When we received this product, I gave it to her and she was a little surprised. I asked her to "model" it for me and my conclusion is that it is not only very functional (i.e., enhances her already beautiful shape) but is actually sexy to see her wearing. She told me it was very comfortable to wear and she particularly liked the detachable garters. She wears stockings and thigh highs often and the garters hold them firmly in place. I purchased this item to do a bit of research as far as fit and movement in a girdle. I'm costume designing a show in which the ladies are doing a lot of dancing and I wanted to ensure that this was a viable option before purchasing them for the cast. Can I say, I absolutely love the fit of this item. And have since worn it for more than just research. It allows my clothing to lie more smoothly over my body. The only concern is if I am wearing an item that is really clingy in the hips, just like seeing a side panty line, depending on the fabric, a little bump can be seen in the side hip- shape-wear shorts are better to combat that type of outfit!
