An exquisitely designed and manufactured open bottom girdle for me, as I do not wear tights. I use a 40 denier stocking and works so well with these garters. Easy to slide into and nearly always wear with a longline brassiere. Lots of boning! But wha JP from northeast Denver

People should be aware that a girdle, especially of 'industrial' strength like this , needs training in before one can wear it and feel OK every day. It's important too not to let the suspender (garter) be shown as can happen accidentally in a short dress. After some time, though, it becomes an essential to hold you up and support you. I prefer skirts, fitted suits, form fitting dresses in earth tones and subdued colors . Pretty darn comfortable and not hot, all things considered. (I generally despise tight and hot clothing.) Easy to put on. Doesn't move or shift once it's on. Holds everything in very well. Doesn't redistribute the flesh, just holds it in. Really holds in my very, very protruding, post-birth belly. I'm a bit short in the torso, and I think that's why the top tends to stick forward a bit (it's probably expecting more torso to go on), but there's not much I can do about that. (If I suck in slightly, the slightly protruding top area goes away. Maybe that's a comment on just how far my belly sticks out? Heh. I imagine with normal women whose bellies don't stick out as much as mine, this will not be an issue.) Love the idea of garter straps, but my hands seem to snag every nylon I touch, so I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to use the straps. May need to cut them off, sadly. I'm a loose T-shirt and baggy jeans kind of gal, but sometimes I want to look nice in a pencil skirt. This helps me do that. Believe it or not, a skirt that fit me now looks baggy on me if I wear the Rago underneath. This is real foundation wear with real structure, not sausage casing. Wearing this is considerably less stressful than sucking in one's belly all the time. It accentuates my waist and enhances my boobs. I bought this open bottom piece because I wanted something to wear specifically w/dresses and skirts, *and* I want to be able to use the restroom w/o having to do so through some crazy fabric slit. Anybody wearing a girdle like this is only fit to be adored! You have to have the right mentality. You have to feel the need to be gripped and held firmly all the time. And in beautifully lace and shiny satin. You need to like being held in boning and panels and lucky to have your legs encased in sheer nylon. This girdle represents a life of sheer luxury. I wear a lot of vintage clothing and dress people in vintage looks for performances. Women typically come to me wearing Spanx to control their little figure inconsistencies. The problem is that Spanx just smooth. They don't have any control. So you have lumps just in different places. As a costume historian, I am familiar with Rago because they've been making girdles since 1945. The 1294 girdle is a classic updated with lycra and bendable boning to make it more comfortable. It may look like your gandma's torture device, but it is THE BEST. It is comfortable (I can dance a tango in mine and I don't dance a calm tango). It breathes. And it smooths my middle-aged flub so my vintage clothes fit perfectly. Not bad back support either. When I got mine, I was really worried it was too small. But it just takes a minute to wiggle into. Praise Rago for the genius idea of putting hooks along the zipper so you don't need two friends to help you zip it up. It's definitely worth the struggle. And they run pretty true to size. Great buy. Before I began a new job I learned that the company requested female employees wear dresses or skirts and hose. I have serious bulges in wrong places and always been a pants suit gal. Now I had to buy some things - most important a girdle. I wanted one that had max control, plus some good stockings and garters I had never worn. Very happy I chose 1294. It is SO comfortable. This fabulous girdle is a trip back to the golden age of girdles and stockings and is the equal or better than anything from those 'golden years'. Perfect 'fit to size', lovely on and comfy enough to wear all day. Helps create a very flat front as it shapes 'inwards' and not 'upwards.'.
