The word 'nylon' is almost synonymous with pantyhose and most hosiery, including thigh highs, are made of nylon. It is extremely durable, with great stretch and shape retention and can be made in many finishes and weights. Nylon thigh highs will usually have a bit of spandex or other man-made stretch material. Stay up nylon thigh highs also have a band around the top of the leg, which is often embellished with lace. The band has silicone grippers or tape along the inside to keep stockings up without the need for garters. Thigh highs are are a great option when pantyhose would be too bulky or hot and when garters might show through clothing.
