My work requires lots of driving in sub-par vehicles with shoddy suspension and worn-out seats. It also requires I work 10-hour shifts, walk about 4 miles a day, and get in and out of said vehicles about 50 times in one shift. This has resulted in severe low back pain, probably from a ruptured disc in my lumbar spine. Once I put this waist cincher on, it seemed to stretch out my spine so that I couldn't slouch in the vehicle. What gave me tremendous pain with muscle spasms radiating up and out to the sides of my back seemed to go away while wearing this. It also kept me from swinging from side to side every time I turned the wheel. Posture was much improved. My figure seemed much more hourglass with this on, as well, an extra bonus. With this on, I finished my shift and could skin the pain medications and muscle relaxers. It does show under clingy or tight fitting clothing, as others have mentioned. I'm only giving it four stars though, as the top of the cincher seemed to stretch out at the end of 10 hours, and as a result has started rolling down. Also, one of the spiral bones has come out of the stitching. This is probably more because of the rigors I put this through while working than quality of craftsmanship. I would recommend this for people looking to accentuate their curves and for people with back pain and moderately physical work. It definitely beats wearing a chunky back brace! For me, I've decided to purchase the heavy duty version of this to help me through my work day. M from Washington

I have never purchased a waist Cincher before and was a little nervous. This one came highly recommended so I gave it a try. This was not a special occasion purchase. I wear this often as a foundation piece with my long line bras. I love it! It holds me in so I don't have to worry about it (it makes a big difference when you can finally let your tummy muscles relax!) I'm 5'4 and usually wear an XL-2X. I bought this in a 2X and it feels wonderful. I can sit and move and I'm not uncomfortable. It gives me a beautiful silhouette and makes my circle skirts and dresses fall as they should. I'm 5'7," 225 lbs, and pear shaped (when I was reading reviews before buying, I was DESPERATE for that info from reviewers!). Most of my weight is in my hips and booty, and I have a large derriere. This cincher did not work for me at all because it simply was not long enough to cover my entire derriere no matter how far I pulled it down. I don't think a larger size would work, because I had no problems closing it, and I could see a bit of cinching action on my tummy, with no muffin-spillage. But with the way my bottom is shaped, the back just kept rising up, either bunching on top of my booty or stopping halfway, creating a line across that can be seen through clothing and an awkward half-smooshed/half-plump booty shape (LOL). Incidentally, I can tell this cincher is quite well made, with the boning and all. I wish it had worked. It's just not for the large-bottomed woman. Judy from Washington, DC

This is the waist cincher I have ever found that actually did anything- Since I am short, it works to hold in my tummy also. The way I put it on is to leave it hooked up and inside out- I step into it, pull it up and then pull it over my tummy and waist right side out. I take it off in reverse order. I agree, I could never just pull it around and hook it myself! This method, when done quickly, does not seem to harm the metal stays. I do hand wash them, because machine washing seems to shorten the life of the garment. Hope this helps. Janet from Southern Pines, NC

LOVE IT! Ordered this for under my wedding dress. It is so comfortable and instant hour glass figure! :) Just be sure and go off your hip measurement not the the size you normally wear. I'm typically a L, but based on the hip measurement I needed an XL and it fits perfectly. Cass from WA

I have another waist cincher but it's not nearly as comfortable as the Rago. I saw this product advertised on a vintage clothing site but they were sold out! A quick Google search brought me to HerRoom and I am extremely satisfied with the selection & sizing guides. I'm a tall woman and carry all my weight in my back/gut. This cincher creates a lovely waist line and made my holiday dress look amazing. I got the black cincher with garters and it was a hit with my husband too! If you need some help creating a waist line I highly recommend this product. Megan from San Diego

Amazing!!! The construction is top notch and it REALLY does it's job. Very comfortable to wear, if you are really close between sizes you can probably go down a size. Takes your curves from "hi" to "HELLO!!!!" Stacie from Inman, SC

Perfect fit and I am a size 6/8 in dress's & pants. So glad that I took the advice of the representative and went by the hip measurement. It is firm fitting but I can breath... could not be happier with the look and fabric as well. PERFECT! I purchased more items the next day. Chellita from Orange/CA/USA

Too constricting. I would never make it a day wearing this.

It had a nice fit (for the most part) - it sucked in just enough to not make your torso look stiff and obvious that you're wearing shapewear - but the sole problem I have with these kinds of girdles was that it was too short ! It was either pull it all the way down (so that it would cover the bottom section of my stomach) and have my muffin top fluff out the top, or pull it all the way up and have my stomach hang out the bottom. It was an uncomfortable and hardly classy bulge either part - it wouldn't work out! My words of wisdom: unless you know you have a tiny torso, don't get this! These kinds of corset styles don't work well with people that have normal-sized torsos to long torsos. Get something that would guarantee you coverage.

Rago Response: This garment is made for the average torso. You should try a different type of garment for the more coverage you are looking for. We suggest Rago High Waist Long Leg Shaper Girdle 6207 Samantha from New Jersey, US

I am 5'8"; 28" waist; 37" hips. I read the reviews before placing my order and so ordered one size smaller (S ). I was thoroughly planing on enjoying this girdle and so also bought a XS in black as a few reviewers suggested to compare the fit. I thought I might like them both. I didn't Both these sizes fit me. The S is fairly easy to get into. The XS is more difficult, but possible. I find I like the shape the S gives be better. The XS shape seems exagerated. The XS would require alterations to the waists of all my skirts it reduces me so much! i much prefer the gentle hourglass shape the S produces. I will return the XS The XS also scrunched up the fat between the top of the girdle and below the bottom of my bra band. It is fine with me, because I'm a thin person without much fat. I wonder how it would go with a heavier woman though. I think if I were any bigger, I might want to wear a bra with a very wide band that overlapped the top of the girdle to minimize/hide this roll of fat. I like this girdle. It gives a very smooth flat tummied look. Carrie from Long Beach, ca

Buy one size smaller than you think you will need so that the cincher can actually reduce your waist. Or order two sizes to try and return one. I adore this cincher! I am also a designer and I recommend this to all my customers - who are mostly in the 20's and 30's- who buy my dresses. They LOVE it, too! I own this in two colors and it is the very best garment of its kind on the market. Does wonderful things for your figure and is super comfortable. However- rago! Please fix your sizing. This cincher is XS and fits me perfectly (I have a 26 3/4" waist) while I have their high-waisted "pants" style (girdle that is shaped like bicycle shorts) and the S in that style is too small for me... and I have small hips. That style is also a brilliant design but Rago needs sizing consistency throughout their line. K. R. from Austin Tx USA

It was too small. Did not match my waist sizes. Would be better with a zipper. The heavy duty garters make it look old fashioned and I believe anyone who is old enough to have worn a girdle would need a zipper. It would be sexier and easier to dress if it had smaller metal garters and a zipper. New customer

I ordered the Rago Waist Cincher a few months ago in black. I wear a lot of natural waisted skirts and do a lot of pin-up modeling. The sizing seemed right on (measure by waist/hips), and it easily takes an inch+ off my waist! The garter clips are very sturdy and never pop open. The only reason I am not giving this garment 5 stars is that when you remove the garter clips (to wear with something sans stockings) the little tabs that the clips slip into stick up (ruining the line of a pencil skirt), and the hem has a tendency to roll upwards if you sit down for too long (again, sans garter clips) I honestly love this product, and look forward to more!
