I was just professionally measured to be a 36DDD, but since many of the reviews said the cups ran large, I would give it a go. The cups fit well, but the band size ran very, very small. I couldn't even try on the garment because there was a three inch gap. Additionally, the bra arrived late, damaged (there was a missing strap and one of the hook ties was broken) and was not at all flattering; while the cups fit, they squished and elongated my breasts like long pancakes due to strange boning in the cups barely visible in the photo. I decided not to exchange the garment for another size and will be ordering something similar from another vendor. I sincerely hope this bra works out better for another customer than it did for me.

HerRoom Response: Thank you for this feedback. Your comment has been forwarded to our Quality Control Team.

Goddess Response: This style runs extremely snug in the band, so normally we recommend going up in the band and down in the cup. Sometimes we find we’ve got to go up two band sizes and then down two cup sizes for the perfect fit. You could conceivably wear a 40C in this garment if the cups fit you in the 36DD. Actually, it sounds as if the cups could have been a bit small for you in the 36DD, since you mentioned that your breasts were “squished” and took on a strange shape (usually a sign that the cups are too small.) The cups have boning to create the ultimate support. This bustier is a ‘specific fit’ garment. Everything – band size, cup size, fabric, boning –must work together for a superior fit. Jenn from CT

Love the bra! However; I should have brought it in a smaller cup size. There was a slight gap between the cups and breast. For more of a snug fit I had to wash it and dry it on high. I'm actually a 34E and followed the other reviewers advice by ordering up a band size and down a cup size. I should have ordered it up a band size and down two cup sizes. Nonetheless, still a good bra. I would recommend it. N.W. from Brooklyn, MD USA

I have not worn this out for a night on the town yet, but I tried it on when I received it and my hubby loved it! He said I need to wear it to bed and often..hahaha! I wore it around the house and very comfortable and supportive. I would just be leary of any real clingy and light fabric on top of it. I think with all the lace some seams, they would show under to light of fabric. It should work for any bridesmaid or holiday strapless dress and/or just for fun! Christy from IN

For the most part, the bra fits great and will be perfect for the occasion. While going up one band size worked well, I actually COULDN'T go down a cup size, since 44A wasn't an option (normally would be a 42B). I'll have to get something to "fill out" the cups, but otherwise I'm happy with this bra. Riki from Wisconsin

Great bra for my wedding dress. Very comfortable. I am regularly a 42 D - DD, so I ordered a 44 C, as they say to go up a band size and down a cup size. Even with the inside row of clips done up, I could have used the 42 and I found the C cups very large (strange), I'd of been scared to order a B cup. Overall, a great bra though, I was not uncomfortable at all, and there were no points digging into me. Sue from Canada

the company suggested that if you have a thicker waist to go up one bra size and decrease by one cup size. The one size larger was ok, but the one cup decreased size was too small. I am trying my regular cup size. Other wise I like the heavy duty boning. When you are a "D" cup or larger the more boning the better. Paula from Cedar Rapids Iowa

It worked for what I needed (A bridesmaids' dress with a deep V in the back), but the straps snapped off the first time I put it on! Because I had planned to pin them to the dress, it wasn't life-or-death, but you would think a bra for bigger girls would have stronger straps.

Goddess Response: Thank you for letting us know about your experience with the straps. We’ll certainly pass this information on to the designers; these suggestions really do help us get better. 689 is actually engineered to be worn as a strapless garment, so very happy to hear it worked for the occasion! This is going to be the strapless bra I wear under my wedding dress. It fits well around the waist, but the bust part isn't very pretty... It's almost like the cup size was made too large at the base, so the under wires don't sit right, but it will accomplish its purpose, so I'm keeping it.

Goddess Response: I wish I could see you in the bustier to be able to give you the correct advice. I just want to make sure you’re placing yourself into the bra properly as this will make all the difference in the fit! Be sure to swoop-and-scoop the breast tissue forward so that the under-wire surrounds the breast and sits behind, not on top of the breast tissue. Also, make sure there’s no space between the underside of the breast and the under-wire by pulling the bustier up so the under-wire literally "cups" the breasts. Very often these small adjustments will ensure a most perfect fit! Congratulations on your wedding day Crystal, I know you’ll look and feel gorgeous! Crystal from Wisconsin

I very much like this bra. I haven't worn it for an extended period of time, but I know that it will be comfortable. I have a larger chest and I was not sure that this bra would do the trick, but I was blown away. I am not afraid that I will spill out and it lifts my chest so well. I highly recommend this to a bigger girl looking for a strapless bra. Jessica from OH

I am very happy with this bra. I ordered 3 sizes and I suggest you do that for the best fit. I kept size 46B, not the 44-C or 48-C. It keeps the girls up, is comfortable and also very pretty. Return policy equals "no problems". Elynn from WA

Beautiful Bra!!!! It's sexy AND holds up the girls! I now can dream of wearing halter tops or strapless dresses. I bought for a wedding to wear under a strapless dress and it lifts up and slims. Don't even need to wear spanx. Only problem is that I usually wear a 36 and since I went up a band size, I needed to get the 38F. the FF was too big. I ordered the new size 38F and it fits PERFECTLY. THANK YOU! BlessedwithBoobs from Atlanta, GA

This has rock solid support, and mild shaping. Advice from others to go up a band size and adjust cup size accordingly is worth following, as it fits very well. The first time I wore this I was a little uncomfortable, but the second and third time have been much better. It is definitely an all-day capable bra. With practice, I can even put it on unassisted (though it's definitely a workout!). Two unexpected effects: First, the shape and structure of the cups is such that I can't wear this under tight, baby-doll cut shirts. The bra becomes more visible than my breasts. Second, I forgot to take into account the warming effect of having the extra fabric layer around my waist. On a hot day this is almost uncomfortably warm, even under sleeveless shirts. Bottom line, I'll be looking for a true strapless to wear with summer halters or camis and thin knits, but this makes a great foundation piece for strapless dresses, more substantial fabrics, and for wearing lighter fabrics/knits on summer evenings (because of the added warmth). I bought this at a bra shop and was surprised to see the exact item here and cheaper!.I usually wear D cups but was surprised when a C cup fitted perfectly making my breasts look smaller and perky. It smoothed out my tires and flattened my abs giving me a nice hourglass shape. It is shockingly comfortable. I bend, twist ,sit and lean and it snaps into place. WOW !!I'm in love with it you hear! melanie from st vincent

I ordered this item along with a high waist shaper to wear under my strapless wedding dress and could not be more pleased with the items separately and together. I normally wear a 38 DD or 38 DDD bra so I followed the sizing guidelines (Very Important!!) and ordered a 42 D. This garment fits unbelievably well and is really the only strapless item I have ever bought with absolutely the BEST support. It feels like you are wearing nothing - but your bust is flying high! The bottom band is substantial and will hold up to sweating and movement (dancing!). Being large chested for most of my life has equaled buying garments that constantly slip, fall down or simply do not offer enough support. This really is the best bra for strapless looks - especially wedding or special occasion wear. I highly recommend this to anyone in the market for an excellent strapless bra. I also put the straps back on and wore it as a halter with a different dress and could not be more pleased. No cup overflow, full support, and absolutely COMFORTABLE! The only tip I can give you is to be sure to follow sizing instructions - I could have gone with a 40 instead of the 42 but on the tighter hooks, fits like a dream! Best support I've ever had. I would buy more strapless tops and dresses since I have this bra - Love, Love, Love it! Michelle from Worcester, MA USA

My daughter and I was very pleased with the Goddess Lace Line. Not only then the bra lift and hold my teenage daughter, but it also made her look much smaller. I will continue to buy the Goddess line. Also, the customer service received from HerRoom was outstanding. CYNTHIA from EL SEGUNDO, CA. USA

I ordered this to wear to my daughter's wedding. It is amazingly supportive and comfortable. I followed the advice of other reviewers ordering down one size in the cup/up one size in the band (normally wear 32DD). This worked out perfectly - very comfortable, non-binding on the loosest hooks, but can move to the tighter hooks for more of a cinching effect. I have tried on many strapless bras, but this is by far the prettiest and most flattering! Eileen from California/USA

For Sooo long, I have searched for a strapless bra that would provide the extensive support I needed for my large breasts. I had finally decided that there wasn't such a bra. I came across thru a random internet search. the bra was perfect! My only suggestion is to improve the strap construction and just have the normal straps that are removable instead of the strap that would need securing (so that it won't dangle) if you adjust it to a shorter length. I ordered this bra because of the great reviews it had. I ordered up a band size and down a cup size like it said. It was too big in the cups. Also, if someone has a tummy, the band is just going to give you even more of a "muffin top" look. You would have to wear some sort of shaper to go along with this. I think if I would have fit in the cups I would have kept it, and worn a shaper underneath, but I will be returning this bra because it was too small!

Goddess Response: Yes, this piece definitely needs a shaper to give a sleek, smooth silhouette. Usually # 689 fits beautifully when we use the “up-a-band-down-a-cup” guideline. And again, it’s so important to bring all of the breast tissue forward in front of the under wire to fill the cup: Neglecting this step can cause some of the breast tissue to be “left behind” –meaning not all of it will be contained in the cup. There could be some gaping and it can look as if the cups are too big. Cassie from Chicago, IL

Finding a well fitting bra is extremely difficult for an otherwise size 8 teen, usually bras of this size are only available for plus sizes. My daughter loved her bra. It was extremely comfortable and the fit was perfect. I will continue shopping HerRoom for all her...unmentionables :) Cindy from California/USA

The bra itself was really nice and I am sure I would have loved it if it had fit. I followed the guidelines for ordering this particular bra, but it ended up being way too big. I waited until the last minute to order this before my wedding, so I don't have time to do an exchange. The customer service for this company is excellent and I will shop here again.

Goddess Response: It’s not clear which was too big, the band or the cup. If the you are accustomed to wearing U.S. brands, we would ordinarily recommend going up a band size and down a cup size (and sometimes it’s necessary to go up two band sizes and down two cup sizes). A reminder: Make sure to “swoop-and-scoop” all of the breast tissue into the cup. Very often the cup will seem too big until the breast tissue is placed into the bra properly, and this will make all the difference in how the bra fits. Ashley from Richmond, VA

This bra blew my expectations. I plan to wear it for my senior prom in a few weeks. I have never been able to wear strapless dress before, and I am very excited for this upcoming event! The bra is extremely supportive of my bust. I even tried jumping vigorously for 5 minutes. Everything stayed in place! This bra has also helped me with my posture, considering I have very bad posture to begin with. The only problem I have with it is the fact that I need assistance hooking the bra on from the back. Besides this minor detail, I am extremely pleased with this product! Denise from NJ/USA
