I am a regular 44DD & needed a strapless bra for an upcoming wedding. I followed the chart recommendation & bought a 48C 2 band sizes up & 1 cup smaller. The Band fit was perfect, I found it very comfortable however the cup size was a little too big I actually needed a B cup! but I decided to keep it anyway as it will work. My overall review is I'm happy with my purchase & definitely will recommend for all first time strapless bra purchasers like myself. Jennifer A. from N.Y

I followed the advice of buying up one band size & down a cup size, but it was totally unnecessary for me. I ended up exchanging for the size I actually measured for. In the end, the bra worked great & gave me the low bra-line that I needed in the back. However, I still have to return the bra because it's too high in the front. My dress is V-shaped in the front and back, and the bra comes up way too high in the front.

Goddess Response: Yes you’re absolutely right, we usually recommend going up in the band and down in the cup in this style. You seem to be the exception that proves the rule… We’re happy the size worked, but sorry the style didn’t work for your dress Addles from Arizona

Not a comfortable fit. cups were really high on breast and had no form. returned item

Goddess Response: It’s difficult to diagnose what’s going on without seeing the bra on the body. However, the cups feature light boning for shaping and support, meaning that they do have an inherent form. You might have purchased an incorrect size in which case the bra simply can’t do the job it’s meant to do. Trisha from Modesto, CA

I returned the item - I normally purchase my bras from a department store - I wear a Wacoal 40 DDD - so in reading your sizing I ordered the 40 F. Cup size was fine - but the 40 was way too small, I couldn't even get it hooked around me.

Goddess Response: American brands use fabrications which are often much stretchier, and more “forgiving” than the Goddess brand. Goddess offers a very “specific” fit so the size has to be absolutely correct to get the ultimate in lift and support. This style runs extremely small in the band. We recommend going up a band, and down a cup. Sometimes you’ll even have to go up two band sizes and down two cup sizes for that custom fit. Perhaps 42DD, or even 44D would work better for you. I wasn't able to try on the item because it was physically impossible for a 42DD to hook a back-hook bra of this type without assistance. No way could I hook it in the front and then twist it around. Why on earth isn't this style available in FRONT-HOOK??? I have no idea whether it fits or not.....

Goddess Response: I know it’s extremely difficult to hook a long-line bra in the back without assistance. This bra runs small in the band, so perhaps if you went up in the band and then down in the cup (44D), fastening it would be more manageable. Here’s a great tip if you have to fasten any bra in front, and then attempt to slide it around the torso to put it on: First put on a slip, or a foundation garment –what ever you happen to have around –and bring it right up under your breasts. Now fasten the bra or bustier over the fabric, and slide it around your body. Since there is no drag of the bra on your skin, it will move easily into place. When the bra is in the right position, simply pull the slip or foundation garment out from under it, and presto, you’re in the bra! Margaret from Charlotte, NC

The bra would have been better if the producer has not used breakable iron to hold the long line. I bought 2 of this bra at once but was disappointed when the iron that was holding the long line broke and gave me a cut near my belly button. I called the people I bought it from to see if they can change the unused one for me with another bra but they refused. I decided not to buy or recommend this bra to anybody. The producer should look into it and try to use a better material next time. It was a loss for me buying this bra.

Goddess Response: 689 is one of our most popular classic bras. It’s an “oldie-but-goodie”, and women have been loving and relying on it for many years. It does run extremely small in the band, so very often we recommend going up in the band, and then down in the cup for a perfect fit. …I must say I’ve never heard of the boning breaking… It does sound as if the body of the bra was too tight, creating too much stress and strain on the boning. This garment gave me everything that I needed for my strapless wedding gown! It gives me exactly the shape I hoped for, which is not what I have naturally:) I expect it's the same with most women! It creates the shape without feeling uncomfortable. I would recommend this to anyone without a plunging neck line, as it is rather high up between the cups. stephanie

Finally a strapless bra that supports in a flattering and comfortable manner! For the first time in my life, I am wearing dresses with spaghetti straps and no straps----and I've had this Goddess bra only a few days! I followed your advice, and ordered up a band size and down a cup size, and it fit perfectly (I normally wear 32 DD). I actually fell asleep wearing it. I'm throwing out the highly-touted famous brand strapless that I wore once and had to change out of because of discomfort and lack of support. This bra can be a bit difficult to get into alone (try lots of baby powder before hooking it in front and twisting it around), but once it's on you'll be delighted at the results! Should have ordered the size the chart recommended to begin with. (This is that size). Returned larger one for this one. Fits perfect. Great for low back dress that is being worn in a wedding as a bridesmaid. Can be undone in the back slightly to fold under to be used under an even lower backed dress. Very form fitting and slenderizing. A great solution for my situation. Di from Montana

Perfect for low back dress. This bra can be left unhooked at the first few hooks and then folded under for an even lower back. Firm support and good cup size. Sizing chart is very accurate. I ordered on size larger because that is how most bras fit and had to return it for the size that the chart originally said. So trust the chart. HerRoom is great for the larger busted plus size person. Will definitely buy from again. Di from Missoula

I was really stressed about finding a strapless plus size bra - your site gave me the information I needed to choose the right size and styles, and gave me the option to select a few and return the itmes that didn't work. This is the first strapless bra that has EVER worked for me and I am so relieved I found it in time for my first wedding dress fitting. Thank you !!!! Anne from Seattle USA

I have a bit of a tummy, so I followed the directions and went up 2 band sizes and down 2 cups sizes. IT FITS PERFECTLY and does EXACTLY what I want it to do! The girls are high and the tummy is in! It will do the job, while I do mine... Matron of Honor! Jean from Ohio

I was just professionally measured to be a 36DDD, but since many of the reviews said the cups ran large, I would give it a go. The cups fit well, but the band size ran very, very small. I couldn't even try on the garment because there was a three inch gap. Additionally, the bra arrived late, damaged (there was a missing strap and one of the hook ties was broken) and was not at all flattering; while the cups fit, they squished and elongated my breasts like long pancakes due to strange boning in the cups barely visible in the photo. I decided not to exchange the garment for another size and will be ordering something similar from another vendor. I sincerely hope this bra works out better for another customer than it did for me.

HerRoom Response: Thank you for this feedback. Your comment has been forwarded to our Quality Control Team.

Goddess Response: This style runs extremely snug in the band, so normally we recommend going up in the band and down in the cup. Sometimes we find we’ve got to go up two band sizes and then down two cup sizes for the perfect fit. You could conceivably wear a 40C in this garment if the cups fit you in the 36DD. Actually, it sounds as if the cups could have been a bit small for you in the 36DD, since you mentioned that your breasts were “squished” and took on a strange shape (usually a sign that the cups are too small.) The cups have boning to create the ultimate support. This bustier is a ‘specific fit’ garment. Everything – band size, cup size, fabric, boning –must work together for a superior fit. Jenn from CT

Love the bra! However; I should have brought it in a smaller cup size. There was a slight gap between the cups and breast. For more of a snug fit I had to wash it and dry it on high. I'm actually a 34E and followed the other reviewers advice by ordering up a band size and down a cup size. I should have ordered it up a band size and down two cup sizes. Nonetheless, still a good bra. I would recommend it. N.W. from Brooklyn, MD USA

I have not worn this out for a night on the town yet, but I tried it on when I received it and my hubby loved it! He said I need to wear it to bed and often..hahaha! I wore it around the house and very comfortable and supportive. I would just be leary of any real clingy and light fabric on top of it. I think with all the lace some seams, they would show under to light of fabric. It should work for any bridesmaid or holiday strapless dress and/or just for fun! Christy from IN

For the most part, the bra fits great and will be perfect for the occasion. While going up one band size worked well, I actually COULDN'T go down a cup size, since 44A wasn't an option (normally would be a 42B). I'll have to get something to "fill out" the cups, but otherwise I'm happy with this bra. Riki from Wisconsin

Great bra for my wedding dress. Very comfortable. I am regularly a 42 D - DD, so I ordered a 44 C, as they say to go up a band size and down a cup size. Even with the inside row of clips done up, I could have used the 42 and I found the C cups very large (strange), I'd of been scared to order a B cup. Overall, a great bra though, I was not uncomfortable at all, and there were no points digging into me. Sue from Canada

the company suggested that if you have a thicker waist to go up one bra size and decrease by one cup size. The one size larger was ok, but the one cup decreased size was too small. I am trying my regular cup size. Other wise I like the heavy duty boning. When you are a "D" cup or larger the more boning the better. Paula from Cedar Rapids Iowa

It worked for what I needed (A bridesmaids' dress with a deep V in the back), but the straps snapped off the first time I put it on! Because I had planned to pin them to the dress, it wasn't life-or-death, but you would think a bra for bigger girls would have stronger straps.

Goddess Response: Thank you for letting us know about your experience with the straps. We’ll certainly pass this information on to the designers; these suggestions really do help us get better. 689 is actually engineered to be worn as a strapless garment, so very happy to hear it worked for the occasion! This is going to be the strapless bra I wear under my wedding dress. It fits well around the waist, but the bust part isn't very pretty... It's almost like the cup size was made too large at the base, so the under wires don't sit right, but it will accomplish its purpose, so I'm keeping it.

Goddess Response: I wish I could see you in the bustier to be able to give you the correct advice. I just want to make sure you’re placing yourself into the bra properly as this will make all the difference in the fit! Be sure to swoop-and-scoop the breast tissue forward so that the under-wire surrounds the breast and sits behind, not on top of the breast tissue. Also, make sure there’s no space between the underside of the breast and the under-wire by pulling the bustier up so the under-wire literally "cups" the breasts. Very often these small adjustments will ensure a most perfect fit! Congratulations on your wedding day Crystal, I know you’ll look and feel gorgeous! Crystal from Wisconsin

I very much like this bra. I haven't worn it for an extended period of time, but I know that it will be comfortable. I have a larger chest and I was not sure that this bra would do the trick, but I was blown away. I am not afraid that I will spill out and it lifts my chest so well. I highly recommend this to a bigger girl looking for a strapless bra. Jessica from OH

I am very happy with this bra. I ordered 3 sizes and I suggest you do that for the best fit. I kept size 46B, not the 44-C or 48-C. It keeps the girls up, is comfortable and also very pretty. Return policy equals "no problems". Elynn from WA
