There are alteration stores that will actually alter the band for you to make it the correct band size for you. The Sakura style runs true to size so it sounds like you are needing a 38D7 instead of the 40 band size. Go down in the band and up in the cup.

The Sakura is a great bra, but as in most “cut and sewn’ styles they are less rounded of a cup as compared to the seamless styles. If you want a more rounded shape you might try a seamless style like the Hermione bra in elomi style 8120. The seamed bras are more supportive than the seamless styles but they do give more projection.
