Chantelle Fete Underwire Bra 1960 Reviews

I have worn this bra for over 30 yrs all of a sudden it is hard to find. I fits very well for women who need support. I was surprised that HerRoom sent me a double D instead I had to send it back, so I was a little disappointed especially that I had to pay the postage.

I had high hopes for this bra, but returned it after trying it on. The upper cup fabric was just snug enough that it pressed into my upper chest causing an unsightly pucker of skin. Other than not fitting my individual chest shape, it was an almost perfect bra and would have been comfortable.

I love the 'perky' look that the incredibly comfortable Chantelle 1960 gives my bustline. It creates the super-stylish, retro silhouette featured on "Mad Men" and in those Douglas Sirk 1960's three-hankie weepies starring Lana Turner. And like the Lana Turner legend, which claims she was discovered at Schwab's drugstore counter wearing a sweater, this bra looks terrific under knits and sweater sets. I grew up seeing ads for this bra in Paris Match and even as a kid I realized the French had a 'je ne sais quoi' when it comes to lingerie. Vivre Chantelle 1960! Excellent bra. Best support bra I've ever worn. I have jaw and shoulder problems and this bra is the only bra I've worn that alleviates the pain. HerRoom is an excellent Web site, with outstanding service.

An excellent bra that can be used as a sport's bra - the support is that good. The look is more conical than is currently fashionable but I like having my breasts all at the front rather than tucked under my armpits. This is my everyday bra and it's the best I've ever found. Cecile from France

Great support and true to fit. The band does not have as much give as some of my other bras. The lace cups do have some texture, but it has not been a problem for most of my clothes. The bra lifts and supports well. I would describe the look as perky rather than pointy. sharon

I was really hoping that this bra would be a good fit, but unfortunately it made my chest look a bit like two cones - very pointy. Otherwise, it was very comfortable. So, if that's the shape you like, then it's a good bra.

HerRoom Response: This Chantelle bra has been around for a very long time. The shape is more pointed than rounded to give the "sweater girl" look from the 50's.

I have been wearing these bras since they first became available and have never had the slightest desire to switch. They are comfortable, they look and feel better than any other brand I've worn (for a while they weren't available and I was forced to try another brand).
