Anita Microfiber Jacquard Underwire Nursing Bra 5035 Reviews

Like so many others, I found this bra to run 1 to 1.5 cups sizes small. I'm 5'7" with a short waist. Being large busted while nursing, I need an underwire bra. This one is supportive, doesn't show detail through a t-shirt and easy to open. Drawbacks are that the under wire comes far enough into my armpit to cause plugged ducts and the band under the wires, rolled into my rib cage making it very uncomfortable - pretty sure this was due to the small cup sizing. There was also a weird squeaking noise the under wire made. All-in-all, it was better than most nursing bras for small bands/large cups but still not good enough. I just went back to my Fantasie balconette bras & pull the cups down. Annoying but worth the support. Now if Fantasie would just make one, I'd be thrilled.

HerRoom Response: It's important that you know how the cup sizing works in each brand. This is a perfect example. An H in Anita is 3 cup sizes SMALLER than an H cup in Fantasie. This bra seemed to fit smaller in the cup than other brands. I had to end up going for a larger cup. The material is soft and I like that it doesn't "look" like a typical nursing bra. Kelly from OKC, OK

This is the only underwire nursing bra I have found that actually fits me and provides adequate support. I have worn these exclusively for the last six months since my daughter was born. There are three areas that I would like to see improved, though: the band seems to stretch out rather quickly, the straps fall down when the cup is open because there is nothing to hold them in place, and I would prefer a bit of padding to prevent show-through. This bra is COMFORTABLE and sturdy. I bought one for my first child, two years ago, and although it's worn from all the wear and washing, the straps don't loosen - it's still a sturdy bra. Amy from Baytown TX USA

I love the material and the straps--they are super comfortable and soft. This Anita bra fits better on me than the 5068 style, however, I am disappointed at the lack of support. Being the cup size that I am, I need good support for my girls in order to prevent shoulder/back pain. After wearing the bra for about 10 minutes, I noticed significant tiredness in my shoulder and upper back. I had to change back into my regular bra (Lane Bryant bra) to rid myself of the achiness. It sucks that I still haven't found a nursing bra that works for my size yet.

HerRoom Response: Your symptoms seem to indicate that you need a smaller band size. If you go down a band size, be sure to go up a cup size to maintain cup volume. Julie from Fresno/CA/USA

I loved this bra and think that of the four styles that I have purchased so far this by far offers the best support. That being said, it is the first underwire nursing bra that I have purchased. I just ordered two more of the same. I am not certain that strictly based on cup size a soft cup bra is supportive enough, at least compared to what I am used to. Amanda from WA

When I first recieved this bra, and even the first time I wore it, I thought it was uncomfortable and that I should return it. -I'm so glad I didn't. It's been 6 months now, and I'm still wearing it...I'm wearing it right now. This is my favorite nursing bra!!! I need LOTS of support, and this one has it! Because of the way it's sewn, it has excellent support. It definitely lifts and separates!!!! Yes, there is no padding, but that hasn't been a problem for me. I wear my nursing pads and it's ok. There have been a couple of shirts that I've worn where you could have seen the pad through my shirt (I don't mean lumpyness, I mean actually seeing it) - that is just so minor. I would buy this bra again and again. I also bought 2 others on this site...and this bra is the best, by far!!! Buy it! - and give it a couple of chances. One thing though...you must order 1 cup size up AND one band size up. Trust me!! Others reviews say the same and I was worried about buying a bigger size, so I didn't...I ended up having to exchange it for the bigger size, so save yourself a lot of trouble and buy 1 size bigger...cup and band! This is by far one of the best nursing bras I have ever owned. The only complaint that I have is the straps are a little uncomfortable. However in my size bra it is very difficult to find any that are not. Over all definitely a good buy! Loni from Oakdale, LA

I have tried many, many bras and this bra is wonderful. It’s supportive; it holds its shape & support after months of use and washes. I bought the white one when I was five months pregnant along with other bras and this is the only one that brought my 36F breast up to where they should be. My daughter is now 7 months old and all the other nursing bras have lost their support but not this one, that is why I bought one in every color. Laura from Jackson, NJ

This could have been nice if the cups were big enough. They were way too small, for an H. There are such discrepancies between cup sizes with the different manufacturers. Oh how I wish a bra company would make a full coverage nursing bra with an underwire in the color BLACK for petite mammas with big ones. Who wears white bras anymore? Nursing moms need more options!

I agree that the cups run small in this bra. It is nice to find a bra with larger cup sizes for smaller band sizes, however the shoulder straps are loose even on the tightest adjustment - a problem I find with trying to get a good fit with a petite frame, perhaps they don't adjust the strap sizes accordingly - only the band? Also the band tends to fold under and rub in the front underneath the cups and bother me - but maybe this is because I'm currently largely pregnant. Hoping that goes away once the belly bump is gone. I like a "natural" look (no foam cups) and don't wear nursing pads so as a nursing bra I think this will work fine for me. Hooks were a little tricky. KL from Bellingham/WA/US

I hate to be the only negative voice among the many praises, but I was not impressed. I ordered a cup size larger than I measured based on all the reviews I read on this site. Almost every review said they wished they had ordered a size up. When I first tried it on I thought it was going to be okay, but once I had worn it for a couple hours I found that it really wasn't doing the job. All it really did was hold my nursing pads in place. There was no lift or support at all. I was sagging as much with it on as without. Perhaps I have a different definition of support than everyone else. I also found that the wires would stab me in the underarms in certain positions. Unfortunately I had worn it out so I was unable to return it. Not worth the money in my book. When my milk first came in "the girls" just couldn't be contained. After a few weeks of going unsupported in flimsy sports bras, I was desperate to find a good nursing bra! I picked up this bra at the breastfeeding supply store at a local hospital and LOVED IT! I wore this size bra while I was at my biggest (for a couple of months), but once my milk regulated and my breasts changed shape I had to downsize to a Medela bra because the Anita's no longer fit right in the smaller size. This worked better than a few other bras that I tried with my first child, but there were a few issues that are preventing me from wanting to try it again. The shoulder straps broke within the first three weeks of wear on BOTH sets that I own. I had to sew them back close to the snap. After 4 months, the straps are beyond repair. The underwire was fairly supportive for a nursing bra, but still not as good as a normal bra. Also, the material is thin and causes nipple showage. Desire

Great bra for large boobs. This is the only nursing bra I have encountered that actually holds the girls up. Straps need some work- they keep falling off the shoulders. Still, it is definitely worth the money. kim

This is the 4th bra I have bought of this style. They hold up very well over time (I've just changed sizes.) The ONLY bra I have even found in 4 years that is super supportive for large cup size and comfortable even in the FL heat! Definitely worth the investment. FYI, buy a band size 1 smaller than most other bras and a cup size larger (for example, I wear a 36F in other bras, but a 34G in this bra.) Erin from Winter Garden, FL

I love this bra! It is probably the most comfortable nursing bra I've owned. It fits wonderfully, the support is awesome, and it stays put. The only reason it is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is a little see through and I just can't see trying to hide a nursing pad in there. If you have thinner pads and wear a thicker shirt, you don't notice anything you are not supposed to. I will be purchasing another one! Angela from Pennsylvania

Finally! A bra that is supportive AND comfortable for a large bust. Straps are very comfortable too. Only complaint is that it is difficult to clip bra with 1 hand after nursing and when the cup is open, that breast is not supported by anything but the underwire. Definitely worth the price. This bra is great. It provides enough support for larger breasted women. It is often difficult to find a large cup size with a smaller band size, but this bra provides that combination. It works well with breastfeeding, and is not uncomfortable to sleep in either. Hilary from MO, USA

I have exclusively breastfed all 5 of my children (2 of those are twins) and have bought many nursing bras in search of proper lift. This bra is very good at providing lift. I gave it only 4 stars because the bra cup is so thin that you can see the nipple or nursing pad. I just think for the price there could be more nipple coverage. I also wish that it came in a 32E. If you want good lift and aren't concerned about nipples poking through, this is a great nursing bra. Mom of 5 from Henderson, NV

Absolutely the only nursing bra I have found as a large-breasted woman that I don't mind being seen in public in. I wish they made a 36I, and that they made one with a slightly less-stretchy fabric so it has less bounce, but given it's vast superiority to everything else I've found, I only wish I hadn't wasted my money on all the other bras before I found this one.
