I needed a garter belt but opted for this because the regular garter belts created even more lines under my suits (I assume this happens to everyone who does not have a completely flat stomach). This works perfectly. The cinching is just enough to provide a smooth surface for clothing without creating bulges at either end. I often remove the garter clips and wear it with jeans and a sweater. This is so beautiful! I bought it to go under my halloween costume (a kitty "dress") because the dress has a zip-up front and showed a bit of a pouch above my belly button. I bought a Medium even though I am a size 8 - it doesn't take inches off but it gets rid of the pouch issue I had because of the zipper lining. Plus I love the garter straps (strong fabric and metal clasps)!!!!! The only issue I had was that one of the garter straps was missing (back of the right thigh) so I called HerRoom today and they told me they are going to ship me the strap and it should arrive early next week - plenty of time before Halloween! I originally ordered this in L (I'm XL in other Rago items) and had to re-order it in a medium... Which should say something about the size. (Waist 32 inches, Hips 39). It's not terribly supportive; it doesn't take off any inches, but it does smooth out my lower abdomen. And it's really pretty. Based on other reviews I bought an XL to fit my 36 inch waist and it fit perfectly. It doesn't give you a whole lot of support, but it looks, and feels great on. I put it together with a bullet bra for a 50s glamour look, and it looked smashing. My husband absolutely loves it as well. I wish they made more colors in this I would buy them all. This is a beautifully made, retro styled garment. I, however, have to return it because it runs too big (such a disappointment)! At a waist size 26, the garment fits slightly loose, with no cinching action whatsoever. I would recommend getting a size smaller than usual and it might actually work. This waist cincher is worth every penny. I'm a crossdresser so I need every bit of help I can get to achieve a nice waist line. This product is made very well and has a sexy retro look to it that I love. Doesn't slide down and the metal garter clasps work much better than plastic. Rago has done it again! After I received it I thought maybe I should have went down a size but after wearing it out one night for about 6 hours I was glad I didn't. After all it's a cincher not a corset. I love this item and it is very comfortable. I could have gone done a size since it does have a good amount of stretch but it's so pretty that I'd never send it back. I took the advice of the reviewers in the comment section and ordered this one size too small. Normally, I take an XL since I've got a 33" waist. I ordered the Large and it fits quite nicely. In fact, I probably could have gotten away with a Medium. I am used to wearing cinchers though and I like them to fit snug. Although the Large does fit well, I think the Medium really would have taken an extra inch or so off my waist. But it's very sexy and there's something to be said for that! K.
